Mono-printing for 4 to 7 year olds

The 4 to 7 year olds got to grips with mono-printing and came up with some interesting new methods of creating prints. They also did some construction of safari animals with Lubz and a little bit of drama where they pretended to be different animals.

Harry Potter week for 8 to 12s

Continuing the theme of My World we had Harry Potter week for the 8 to 12 year olds this week. We read some of the place descriptions in the books noting the words used, especially all the adjectives and mental pictures they create. Some chose to write their own descriptive passages then, while others got straight to work on their ragdolls, mono-printing, button sewing and drawing. Things were so busy there was very little time for picture taking, but here are a few to give a flavour of Monday's creativity.

Another week over

It's been a busy week since we last updated the website. We had group visits from Moyne CS TYs, the East Meets West women's group from Longford and Ardagh Tidy Towns, along with tourists from Australia, Wales, America, England and Galway and all our usual classes. Here's some of the week's happenings in pictures.

Famous 4 to 7 year olds

The 4 to 7 year olds were very proud of their media coverage this week. They feature on the front page of the Longford Leader's Life section. Thanks to Aisling and Michelle for making them famous! This week we had a few new members and the artroom was bustling with creativity again. We made some mixed up characters with cards, described some made-up ones with words, drew our own creatures with markers, pens and computer and created some scenes with felt pictures all in the space of an hour.

Ragdolls

The 8 to 12 years class developed today from a look at the making of the Coraline movie to a ragdoll making session. There were also some great fabric collages, bags and even a t-shirt for a cat produced. Looking forward to finishing the dolls and seeing what is created next week.

Still Life Week 3

A special welcome to the new member of the class today. We concentrated on tone with charcoal and chalk and all seemed pleased with the results, well done. There are still places available for the next few weeks, contact us for details.

Creative Embroidery

Welcome to the new members of the Creative Embroidery class who made great cushion covers today while the others continued with the elements for their unique wall hangings. I can't wait to see how they develop over the next few weeks.
